The Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Nano-Optical Biosensing and Molecular Diagnostics at McMaster University is dedicated to developing next-generation analytical tools for healthcare, food safety, and environmental sensing. Our mission is to provide innovative, accessible, and high-performance biosensing technologies that address critical societal needs. Research Focus Understanding Mechanisms: Developing sophisticated analytical tools to detect and quantify biological or chemical molecules at the nanoscale. Developing Methods: Innovating in-vitro, in-situ, and in-vivo analysis techniques using Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) for rapid, simple, and inexpensive biosensing. Applying Sensors: Translating developed methods into practical devices and applications for clinical, biological, food, and environmental laboratories.
