NHRDF, a society registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, was established on 3rd November 1977 with the prime objective of carrying out research and development work in horticultural crops, particularly onion and garlic. Its Head Office and registered office are located at "Bagwani Bhavan", 47, Pankha Road, Institutional Area, Janakpuri, New Delhi.
NHRDF is a voluntary centre of ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project on Vegetable Crops and All India Network Research Project on Onion and Garlic of ICAR, New Delhi. It is also a National Level Agency under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Government of India, New Delhi. All India Network Project on Monitoring of Pesticide Residue at National Level (MPRNL) coordinated by ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi in different vegetables is also running at Pesticide Residue Laboratory, Nashik for testing pesticides residuals in different vegetables
