It’s crazy. So many cultural organizations in Enschede that focus on the night. So many excellent examples of how nightclubs and 24-hour economy boosts the appeal of cities. But no permanent nightclub in Enschede. Without a permanent nightclub location with the right structure, community and vision, all this creative energy ends up in hidden parties, illegal raves or organizations fleeing Enschede and choosing a different city as their base. The current non-regulated nightculture in Enschede is excellent in its diversity, maturity and social cultural impact. And it will stay like that with or without a nightclub. But this is the chance for Enschede to be proud of what has been growing underground for decades. The municipality and cultural institutions in Enschede have been flirting with the idea of allowing a nightclub from a cultural and entrepreneurial perspective for a while. There is momentum towards policy changes that allow a nightclub from a cultural perspective. From an entrepreneurial point of view, policies are already in place to make this happen. This is the moment to capitalize on these ideas and to move forward. The nightclub collective consists of many different organizations who are ready to pick up the glove and make a permanent nightclub happen.
