International Night Studies Network

The International Night Studies Network (INSN) is an interdisciplinary platform that brings together scholars, researchers, and practitioners dedicated to the study of the night as a complex and transformative space. We explore the social, cultural, political, economic, and environmental dimensions of nocturnal life, fostering critical and innovative approaches to understanding nighttime societies. Rooted in the belief that the night offers unique perspectives on urban dynamics, identities, and social practices, INSN aims to advance knowledge and promote dialogue across disciplines. Our network serves as a space for collaboration, sharing, and innovation, connecting researchers and practitioners worldwide to engage with the challenges and opportunities that emerge in nocturnal contexts. What We Do: Facilitate interdisciplinary research on the night’s cultural, spatial, and societal dimensions. Promote the exchange of knowledge through conferences, workshops, and publications. Foster connections between academia, policymakers, and cultural practitioners. Highlight innovations in methodologies for studying nocturnal realities. The INSN is committed to supporting a vibrant and engaged community of "nightologists" to critically interrogate and reimagine the role of the night in contemporary society.
