The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) HealthTech Research Centre (HRC) in Diagnostic and Technology Evaluation is part of the NIHR and hosted by Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with Newcastle University.
We aim to ensure that better diagnostics are available as quickly as possible for patients by efficiently evaluating them. We assess new diagnostic tests and devices, such as technologies related to imaging, artificial intelligence, and digital healthcare.
Since 2013, we have supported innovators by helping them to obtain funding and to generate a portfolio of evidence as they bring their diagnostics to the UK healthcare market.
