NIHR Lambeth HDRC

Lambeth Council has been awarded 5 years of funding by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to develop a research collaboration called Lambeth HEART. Lambeth is one of 30 new HDRCs nationally. NIHR HDRCs enable local authorities to become more research-active, embedding a culture of evidence-based decision making. This will support Lambeth Council to address the wider determinants of health and health inequalities. Lambeth HEART’s vision is to understand and act on the causes of health inequalities in Lambeth. We will develop an open and participative research collaboration which generates new knowledge, identifies, and applies existing research to tackle the causes of inequalities and improve our residents health and wellbeing. This will be underpinned by research, data, evidence which involves local people and informs decisions made by Lambeth council and its partners and is delivered within an integrated health and care system. The NIHR funds, enables and delivers world-leading health and social care research that improves people's health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth. Our mission is to understand and act on the causes of health inequalities in Lambeth. So we can improve our residents’ health and wellbeing.
