The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Bangladesh is the leading state agency dedicated to treating mental health issues, mental health policy formation, research, and training mental health professionals. Established in 2001 and located in Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, NIMH provides outpatient, inpatient, and emergency medical services for both child and adult mental disorders. It is the largest teaching psychiatric hospital in the country, training the next generation of leaders in psychiatry, psychology, and medicine. NIMH is part of the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
