Since 2017, two French NGOs called Etc Terra and RONGEAD have merged into a brand-new entity named Nitidæ. This new entity works to preserve forests, strengthen agricultural and energy value chains, and facilitate interactions between private and public sectors. Working with a team of approximately 65 collaborators (economists, engineers, agronomists, foresters, soil carbon and GIS experts and remote sensing) Nitidæ can conceive, develop, and carry out projects that combine preservation of the environment while strengthening the local economy. 30 projects are currently carried out mainly in Madagascar, Mali, Burkina Faso, Mozambique, and Ivory Coast. Nitidæ also provides technical expertise to food and cosmetic companies to improve the performance of agricultural value chains, soften the environmental impacts (preserving natural resources, the energy efficiency of transformation processes and the carbon offset of activities) and stimulate the local economic development in collaboration with producer’s organizations. Our NGO is a member of the UEBT (Union for Ethical Bio Trade), of the Conference of the parties for the Climate and of numerous initiatives for the sustainability of cashew, shea, and cocoa sectors. Nitidæ also carries the initiative nkalo (www.nkalo.com) with is an information and advisory service on agricultural markets to improve transparency and efficiency of agricultural markets in Africa and throughout the world.
