The New Mexico Primary Care Training Consortium (NMPCTC) brings together all primary care residency programs in New Mexico to increase the quality and quantity of primary care training, while preserving the individuality of each program. Physicians in residency training in New Mexico are encouraged to provide clinical care within the context of the community in which they live. The New Mexico Primary Care Training Consortium serves as a united front in statewide primary care training, advocacy, administration and development.
We believe that the health of a nation is built on the foundation of primary care, and we are dedicated to making this foundation strong for our community by training highly skilled family physicians.
Goals of the NMPCTC:
1.Develop, implement and manage services that support and enhance training for Primary Care providers in NM;
2. Support workforce development in the Primary Care field in identified underserved areas throughout NM by working with existing and developing new family medicine residency programs;
3. Provide outreach and technical assistance in recruiting and training of new Primary Care providers in NM;
4. Identify best practice activities that enhance primary care training in New Mexico with a focus on rural experiences.
