Department of Journalism and Media Studies

At New Mexico State University’s Department of Journalism and Media Studies, we believe that every student has a unique story to tell—and we’re here to help them learn how. We’re committed to empowering students to develop their own voice, sharpen their vision, and create change in the world around them. For 60 years, we’ve offered students a supportive community where expert faculty mentor them through hands-on learning and real-world experiences. Our Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies program offers concentrations in advertising, broadcast journalism, multimedia journalism, photojournalism, and public relations. We provide the knowledge, tools, and opportunities media professionals need to succeed in today’s dynamic media landscape. Our graduates join thousands of Aggie alumni around the world working for news organizations, business and industry communications departments, government agencies, multimedia agencies, and advertising and public relations firms.
