NOMADA is a Wroclaw-based non-government organisation founded in 2009. Our objective is to provide free consulting services and legal protection for migrants and refugees. We operate locally (Wroclaw and Lower Silesia). In addition, Nomada lawyers provide counselling in 2 detention camps. NOMADA is a part of the Border Group which provides humanitarian and legal aid to people stranded at the Polish-Belarusian border. We run educational projects directed towards the Polish majority - training programs for various professional groups, workshops for students of local schools. Currently, about 80% of our clients are people from Ukraine. However, we support everyone regardless of their country of origin and their legal status.
In order to be able to respond effectively to the needs of migrants and refugees in Wrocław, Nomada has grown by over 350 % over the past 18 months. Our team is made up of people with different cultural backgrounds and is trans-generative, gender-diverse and inclusive. We employ people from marginalised communities - Polish Roma, Roma migrants from Romania living in Wrocław, representatives of various migrant communities (Ukrainian, Belarusian, Syrian, Turkish, Afghan, Columbian, Tunisian ), LGBTQ+, and neurodiverse persons. Recently we have created and are developing a division that support persons exposed and experience gender based violence (GBV).
