Northamptonshire Parent Infant Partnership is a well loved therapy charity which supports parents to be and new parents and their children up to age two who are vulnerable, perhaps because of postnatal depression or perinatal mental health issues, prediagnosed mental health conditions or having difficulties bonding for a range of reasons. We help parents who experience extraordinarily challenging starts to family life to find the joy of parenting, and support their babies to build their relationship when this could have been damaged by a range of factors. We support families during the antenatal, postnatal and early infancy period. We also champion early investment through training the workforce in health, children services and social services sector, and we develop colloborative partnerships to do this. We work at a local and national level to challenge the way in which services and policies are developed around perinatal, paternal and maternal mental health as well as infant mental health. Sector disruptors, we look to challenge the status quo and ensure that early stage support is available to all families who are struggling with mental health issues in the early years, our goal is to reach 10,000 families by 2017. We're doing this by creating sector commitment to the development of services, as well as creating winning partnerships with excellent providers to develop a patient led model of service delivery, focused on giving mums and dads choice over their care at the most vulnerable time in theirs, and their babies lives. We are founders of the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health: Intrinsic Links and Integrated Strategies Conference, being held on November 15th 2016 to support the vision and creation of a six year strategy in infant and perinatal mental health, focused on holistically supporting the development of family mental health and health in relationships from the outset of family life.
