About North Bay Construction Corps
The North Bay Construction Corps (NBCC) is a 5-month training program introducing high school seniors to careers in construction and the trades while earning college credit. Taught by local industry experts, students are exposed to multiple employers across a variety of trades - from tool handling and personal safety to fundamentals of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and solar, to name a few. The program culminates in an intensive 2-week bootcamp that allows students to practice their skills and gain experience first-hand in the industry while earning a stipend. In its third year, 125 students are expected to complete the 5-month course, and graduate the bootcamp. Of those who graduate from bootcamp, all are anticipated to receive multiple offers to enter the workforce immediately. NBCC graduates are well-prepared for entry-level positions, paying between $18-20/¬¬¬¬hour to start, in a variety of construction and trades disciplines. After three years, these same students could be earning up to $50/hour in journeyman positions.
