Origin is the first stop for Northeastern affiliates who want to build deep-tech ventures. Our mission is to connect ambitious people with the resources they need to tackle the worldly issues. Our purpose is to facilitate the process of taking disruptive tech from the concept stage to market. We instill our members with the entrepreneurial drive and business skill-set to take their ideas to the next level. Our ventures are closely guided on the road to commercialization, learning how to identify use cases & business models, build prototypes, and even pitch their concepts to investors. With the help of the NSF I-Corps program and the Alpha Fund, members gain an in-depth understanding of the process of building a successful tech company. What is "deep-tech"? We define deep-tech as technology that has strictly applied scientific discoveries to generate a palpable solution to a common problem. Deep-tech differs from "regular" tech in the sense that it requires a touch of engineering to build a sophisticated solution.
