According to a study only 40% of professionals who identify as LGBTQI+ openly share their sexual orientation and/or sexual identity. Furthermore, around 53% admit they believe that being out has slowed down their career development. These findings show how many obstacles and hurdles LGBTQI+ people still face, especially at their workplace. Our founders acknowledged this and were ready to make a change by founding this student initiative to raise awareness and implement changes in their community and beyond. We believe that by promoting awareness on LGBTQI+ topics and educating our peers on the importance of inclusion and diversity we can make a change for the generations of graduates to come.
