Now I Am Known

We believe every child and young person, especially the forgotten, neglected, or abused, deserves to be celebrated; seen, heard, and known. Our mission is to create a platform and strategic partnerships that provide support, resources, and a place for all to be celebrated. From the founder, Peter Mutabazi: I believe that every child and every person deserves to be known. I've been dedicated to advocating for children and youth my entire life. I grew up feeling unheard and unseen. I know what it feels like to wonder if you matter at all. Through the unconditional kindness and generosity of one man and his family my life changed. Now, I'm on a mission to do the same: to change the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people. In 2017, I became a foster parent. Since then, I've fostered 13 kids and adopted 1, my oldest. It's been the best decision I have ever made. Some statistics that drive my mission: • Approximately 1 in 5 children in the U.S. foster care system waiting to be adopted are teens. • Teens have lower adoption rates than younger children, and they often wait longer to be adopted. • Only 5% of all children adopted in 2018 were between the ages of 15 and 18 years old. • The number of children in the U.S foster care system continues to increase year after year. • Kids who age out of foster care at 18 or 21 face greater challenges and risks. This is not acceptable and through my advocacy and my project Now I Am Known, I want to make a difference. Together, with my son Anthony my dream is to support, foster, and adopt more kids.
