Quantum computers are evolving fast. The quantum computing model has a speed advantage over classical computers. But this advantage is not beneficial to every problem. Taking advantage of the quantum computer requires translating problem from classical computing domain to quantum computing domain. Take for example the protein structure prediction problem (PSP). Prediction of protein structure from the given sequence will revolutionize the health care industry, help design new enzymes which can act as a catalyst in the fertilizer industry and can lead us to solve many problems that are presently damaging our natural environment. But using quantum computers to solve this problem requires to come up with the problem statement in quantum computing domain. And this is one of the things we are doing. As our first project, we have taken up the task to come up with the quantum computing solution to try to predict protein structures. We hope, as the quantum technology matures these solutions will be helpful in making life more sustainable. We endeavour to use quantum computing to take on new challenges in other fields as well.
