Since the inception of the sport of Olympic Weightlifting in Australia in 1912, NSW has been one of the major driving forces behind the sport of weightlifting in this country. Our mission is to promote and develop the sport of Olympic Weightlifting across all ages. For Juniors and Seniors, this means competition at State, National and International levels with a focus on representation at Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
Masters weightlifting provides opportunities for athletes, aged 35+, to compete at local, national and international level. NSW has an annual Masters Championship followed up with AWF National and IWF World Masters events. Our oldest lifter is in his 70s and holds a number of records.
NSW Weightlifting today is enjoying incredible growth and diversity across ages, genders, bodyweights with the Sport underpinning Athletics, Football, Tennis, Rugby and even Bob Sledding.
Our headquarters and High Performance Centre is located in the Quaycentre, Sydney Olympic Park.
