Every year, on the last Friday of September, 1.5M visitors in more than 300 European cities attend "Researchers' Night", an initiative of the European Commission. The goal of "Researchers' Night" is to help familiarise everyday people with the incredible world of research that is forever developing inside the closed walls of the various research institutes and universities.
In this mindset, ever since 2014, the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) hosts each year the "NTUA Researchers' Night", on the last Friday of September as well. Research teams from NTUA as well as another 8 Athenian Universities participate and exhibit their research accomplishments to the crowds, by conducting experiments with actual equipment.
At the same time, various parallel events are taking place: musical and theatrical performances by university teams, educational activities for children, writing, painting and photography contests, live calls to CERN and other "Researchers' Night" events and much more in order to celebrate this unique day dedicated to research!
The event is organised each year by a number of volunteering employees and students of NTUA and other Athenian Universities as well.
