About Department of Bioengineering at Northeastern University

In response to rapidly increasing student interest, expanding bioengineering research opportunities and exponential industry growth, the Department of Bioengineering was founded in 2014. By building on competencies established in graduate bioengineering education within our Chemical Engineering department, and expanding into more comprehensive multidisciplinary areas of bioengineering, the Department in 2021 reached student enrollment of 871 including over 650 undergraduate students.
