The Nuclear First and Next Generation Nuclear CDT programmes offered students the opportunity to train toward and study for a PhD in a nuclear-related area of research. Across four-years, each four-year fully-funded studentship offered an exciting and interdisciplinary approach to postgraduate research training, combining a Masters level foundation year with a three year Doctoral level thesis project. The CDT was supplemented by training in professional skills and project placements in industry or research institutes in the UK and overseas.
Its successor, GREEN is a consortium of five universities– Lancaster University, University of Leeds, University of Liverpool, The University of Manchester and The University of Sheffield– are currently recruiting for its third cohort, beginning in September 2021.
