Palavras Infinitas - Núcleo de Inclusão, Comunicação e Media is a Portuguese non-profit organisation founded in 2015. Our aim is to defend and promote the rights and interests of those who suffer from exclusion at all levels - social, cultural and economic - focusing especially on people with disabilities. The main work of Palavras Infinitas promotes the de-marginalisation of people, fights discrimination and prejudice, and intends to disrupt the barriers that may lead to social exclusion. Our organisation actively participates in forums, conferences and other events, engaging constantly in various partnerships. Our activities involve delivering training and advice sessions, organising events and projects both nationally and internationally. By way of example, we are responsible for organising an annual international photography contest, “Inclusion in diversity” it is developed in partnership with the Portuguese Photography Centre. At a national level, Palavras Infinitas has a strong presence in the digital world through a project - Plural e Singular - a communication body dedicated to the issue of disability that unfolds in two aspects: a digital magazine and a site to bridge the time gap between digital editions. This pioneering project aims to bridge the lack of community and social support, providing a source of information with topics considered current and of interest to this thematic area. We believe in the power of information and education, thus Palavras Infinitas works towards empowering the socially excluded people, helping them to gain a strong voice in the community and supporting active citizenship.
