Number One Journal

Number One Journal is a philanthropic publication through the prism of cinema & storytelling, featuring exclusive conversations with the most independent A-list talent in the performing arts industry. With each new issue, Number One Journal tackles a fundamental question that is paramount to our evolution as a society. Vol. I tackled the issue of "Success", Vol. II & III tackle the issue of "Education", and so forth. In its first volume, the magazine was the first of its kind to adopt the square format, extending across 400 pages of textured black & white photographs and candid conversations, punctuated by narrative chapters and very personal handwritten notes, featuring Evan Rachel Wood, Julie Delpy, Aubrey Plaza and many more. Vol. II & III encompassed the difficult period between 2020 & 2021, in which we decided to dig deeper than any other publication before, by extending the same topic across two volumes, for a more lightweight experience. Talents featured in these volumes included contemporary artist Leelee Sobieski, Sex Education’s star Asa Butterfield, film director Grant Sputore, creative director Ben Ditto, iconic actress and civil rights activist Emmanuelle Beart, prolific actress Katherine Waterston, recording artist Olivia Dean, choreographer and performer Yoann Bourgeois & others. Maintaining our position as trailblazers, Vol. IV will see Number One Journal become the first magazine to ever adopt a zero waste production model. So much so, that we do not fly teams abroad, or even use any electrical lighting equipment in our shoots. Yes, you read that right, we only shoot with natural light. This philosophy carries through all the way to printing, where our partner Stipa applies the most sophisticated printing technology available in compliance with recognized certifications and labels, such as Imprim’Vert®, FSC®, PEFC™ and l’ISO 14001, to name a few.
