The definition of pro-nutrient is a micro-ingredient administrated by oral route in small amounts that have physiological and microbiological activities that differ from other nutrients in feed formulation. This definition suits what EU tells about ingredients for feed manufacturing: products of plant or animal origin, natural, fresh or preserved, industrial derivatives and organic or inorganic substances, used alone or combined, used for animal nutrition. Field research proves that pro-nutrients improve animal health status: 1. They improve the integrity of intestinal mucosa and other organs and tissues, preventing them from pathogen attacks. 2.
