About Nursing Now Challenge

The Nursing Now Challenge carries forward the ambitious mandate of the Nursing Now campaign and the Nightingale Challenge, working to create leadership development opportunities for student and early-career nurses and midwives. The Nursing Now Challenge was launched in 2021 with the aim of supporting health employers around the world to create leadership development opportunities for their student and early-career nurses and midwives. This mandate has evolved and today, the Nursing Now Challenge welcomes individuals, as well as organisations. It has become an invaluable space for student and early-career nurses and midwives to convene, share experiences and and learn from one another. It has become a key feature and support system in the lives of thousands and represents a vibrant, diverse, challenge-led community where student and early-career nurses and midwives are inspired and championed. Thanks to ongoing funding from The Burdett Trust for Nursing, membership to the Nursing Now Challenge is free and gives members access to a vast spectrum of resources and opportunities. All employers of nurses and midwives are encouraged to take part in the Nursing Now Challenge by providing a leadership and development programme for nurses and midwives. The Nursing Now Challenge is also open to students and early-career nurses and midwives and we urge universities and colleges to provide leadership development training to supplement their curricula. This is an opportunity to be part of a great global movement to develop nursing and midwifery. Taking part in the Nursing Now Challenge enables employers and universities to maintain and enhance their reputation, externally and with their own staff and students, for investing and championing nursing and midwifery.
