NUST Robotics & Artificial Intelligence (NUST RAI) is a tech enterprise which aims to promote the culture of robotics and artificial intelligence in Pakistan. Based in the National University of Sciences and Technology-Pakistan Navy Engineering College (NUST PNEC), the team’s objective is to explore the power of autonomous software and its integration with advanced electro-mechanical systems. We wish to spread awareness amongst the students of Pakistan and beyond to explore this field, as we spear-head the wave of robotics in Pakistan. Our journey began in 2021, when this team participated in RoboFiesta 4.0 at HITEC University, Taxila, Pakistan. Our first competition, yet we returned home with the runners-up cup in the fire-fighting module. Fast forward a few months into 2022, the team attempted its first stand-alone project: CY, a humanoid robot designed for future human interactions. The goal of the project was to manufacture an interactive and reliable robotic prototype with efficient information delivery, making CY intelligent, entertaining and versatile. Fully completed and operational, CY showed the ability to be customized according to its audience, taking it to higher levels of efficiency. As of now, NUST RAI is still basking in the glory of its highly anticipated and successful humanoid project which was unveiled in September 2023. The MARC-1 humanoid project is a testament to the value of hard work, consistency, and the end goal of NUST RAI: to become the pioneer of cutting-edge research and development in the field of Robotics and AI in Pakistan. The MARC-1 project was the first of its kind in the country. Today, the technical and business divisions at NUST RAI are attempting another first: an international competition with another unprecedented robotic prototype.
