De NVBS is de vereniging in Nederland die zich bezighoudt met alle vormen van railvervoer (trein, tram en metro). Naast ons maandblad, Op de Rails, met het laatste railnieuws uit Nederland en het buitenland beheert de NVBS het grootste documentaire en fotografische archief van de Benelux op spoor- en tramgebied. De NVBS organiseert ook excursies en heeft in haar verenigingsruimte in het station van Amersfoort een grote spoorboek winkel en bibliotheek.
