About Northwest Arkansas Tobacco and Drug Free Coalition

Northwest Arkansas Tobacco and Drug Free Coalition (NWATDFC) believes that everyone has the right to make informed decisions about their health, tobacco, alcohol and drug use. Our mission? Improve the quality of life for Arkansans by mitigating the health and economic impact of alcohol, tobacco, and drug use through education, prevention, cessation, and public policy. Our intervention areas are based on the Center for Disease Control Best Practices. Together, the coalition focuses on the following: building community partnerships, eliminating exposure to secondhand smoke by creating tobacco free environments, promoting cessation and the Arkansas Tobacco Quitline (1-800-784-8669), preventing youth initiation to alcohol, tobacco, and other substances, and eliminating tobacco and substance abuse related health disparities. Funding for the NWATDFC through the following grants • Drug Free Communities grant from Office of National Drug Control Policy and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and serves Washington county. • Arkansas Department of Health TPCP grant, serves in Benton and Washington counties. • University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff MISRGO grant, serves Benton, Washington, Carroll, Madison, Newton, and Boone counties. • Regional Prevention Providers as part of the Substance Abuse Block Grant, serves Benton, Carroll, Madison, and Washington counties. • Midsouth Faith-Based grant, serves Benton, Washington, Carroll and Madison counties.
