Northwest Tarrant Crisis Intervention Team

NWTCIT provides a specialized, well-executed response to individuals in the community who have mental illness or are in active crisis. NWTCIT is comprised of hybrid uniformed patrol officers, detectives, firefighters, and paramedics among the cities of Azle, Lake Worth, Saginaw, Pelican Bay, and Reno partnered with mental health clinicians provided by the local mental health authority. Members have received specialized training in behavioral health crisis intervention and crisis negotiation. Members perform all their usual duties including responding to 911 calls for service and investigative follow ups, however are subject to be dispatched concurrently to crisis calls in any of the partnering cities in order to provide a specialized response. Each case is subsequently followed up on in order to ensure the person received the resources and support to prevent further emergency response. This approach seeks to provide proper disposition of crisis calls, as well as enhance the safety of both the community and first responders.
