New York Arts Program company information, Employees & Contact Information

The New York Arts Program (NYAP) is an academic off-campus program for young artists, run by artists. NYAP was founded in 1969 by two art professors from Ohio Wesleyan University and has been bringing students from across the country to NYC ever since. Our students come to NYAP to develop their art practices, learn from professional artists and intern with artists and arts organizations such as Brooklyn Museum, Public Theatre, BOMB Magazine, Protozoa Pictures, Roulette Intermedium and E.V. Day, just to name a few... NYAP mentors undergraduate and recently-graduated students across disciplines, pairing them with internships with artists and art organizations throughout NYC. Our students take seminars taught by working artists, attend visiting artist lectures and creative labs, and make work in their respective disciplines all with NYC and its many art communities as the focal point. NYAP demonstrates to students that a life and career as an artist is sustainable and worth taking seriously. We understand that there is not one single path to becoming an artist and hope to show our students how they can begin to craft their own path as artists and art professionals. NYAP sees artists as catalytic participants in this society and seeks to cultivate their ability to sustain their work and enrich their communities.
