The New York Foundation for Fair Contracting (NYFFC) is a non-profit organization established in 2011 to support, promote, and encourage fair contracting in New York State. The NYFFC does it part to ensure that public works projects are completed fairly – for all parties involved.
Fair contracting means that all contractors follow state construction guidelines, safety protocols, and wage requirements. When contractors don’t follow the law and act irresponsibly, workers, taxpayers, and responsible contractors suffer. Workers are deprived of fair wages due to fraud and misclassification. Public bodies and taxpayers are at risk of due to work being done “cheaper,” to save on up-front costs.The NYFFC works to prevent cheating and irresponsibility in public works construction.
The NYFFC works to level the playing field through relationship building, educational seminars, bid monitoring and protests, and at times, assisting employees file complaints with the appropriate state or federal agencies.
