New Zealand Business & Parliament Trust

The NZBPT is a non-partisan educational charity dedicated to advancing and encouraging business understanding of Parliament and parliamentarians understanding of the business community. Formed in 1991, the New Zealand Business & Parliament Trust has worked tirelessly and meticulously on bridging the perceived gap of understanding and knowledge between Members of Parliament and the business community. The Trust’s objectives are met through the provision of Business Study programme attachments for Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Study programmes structured around the theme of “How government is exercised through Parliament”. In addition, there are opportunities for our members to hear from leading experts in the field of business and to send parliamentarians on ‘away days’ to corporates. The Trust also supports education and youth through its travel assistance programme for school visits to Parliament, tertiary prizes in politics and public policy at leading universities and sponsoring a competition in conjunction with the triennial Youth Parliaments We are proud of what we have achieved so far, but it is our vision for the future that excites us most. Our small, but dedicated team, supported by a Board of four corporates and three parliamentarians, play a crucial role in the everchanging world of business and Parliament.
