The Hutt City Emergency Response Team (HCERT) is Lower Hutt's volunteer rescue response team. We are also a nationally deployable Civil Defence response team (NZRT18) Based at the Hutt City Council, the team responds to Civil Defence emergencies and other incidents on request. We work closely with Wellington’s local authorities and New Zealand's professional emergency services including Fire, Police and Ambulance services. The team is highly mobile and has a cache of readily accessible rescue resources to help assist our community in time of need. Our capability includes Incident Management, General Rescue, USAR CAT-1R, Flood and Storm Response and Technical Swift-water Rescue.
We train Monday evenings on a fortnightly basis. Periodically training is also conducted during the weekends in all types of conditions so it's a commitment not to be taken lightly.
