GIS Nucleus - Geopolitics, Regional Integration and World-System

Research Center of the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. GIS seeks to contribute to the construction of a geopolitical vision of the processes of regional integration in contemporary Latin America, based on a transdisciplinary analysis capable of dealing with the complexity of the interests at stake in the continent. We analyze the sub-regional problem from a global view of contemporary capitalism as a social and economic construction, but also as a historical accumulation. In this sense, the proposed theoretical and methodological approach is articulated and complemented with the construction of a new paradigm of economic and social analysis in a long-term historical perspective. By deepening the understanding of two main trends in the contemporary Latin American conjuncture, we will be contributing to the construction of prospective scenarios and subsidies for the elaboration of public policies.
