Observatory for the Quality of Law

The Observatory for the Quality of Law is a research group created in 2005 at the Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), certified and financed by National Council for Research (CNPq), and coordinated by professor Dr. Fabiana de Menezes Soares. Its general objective is to present strategies to maximize citizens' awareness and democratic experience, in order to minimize the effects of hypertrophy and legislative inadequacy. In this sense, the systematization of collaborative instruments of interactivity between members of the Three Powers (technicians, politicians and judges), as well as the participation of any citizen in this process, must be part of a systematic policy of aggregating creativity and collective knowledge for the improvement legislative quality. At the heart of the group, various research, activities and initiatives are developed, which currently include: i) the Research Project “Policies for Good Legislation and Regulation in Science and Technology: Legislative Assessment of the Science and Technology Code”, financed by FAPEMIG; ii) the Research Project “Legislation in agricultural defense: prognoses and legislative evaluation proposal”; iii) the “Human Rights Clinic”; iv) the Extension Project “Debate Law”; v) the Extension Project “Legislative practice in Minas Gerais parliaments: CMBH and ALMG”; vi) the Extension Project “Technical Production linked to the Rondon- Bororos Project“ vii) the Extension Project “Applied Legal: the case of legislation on historical-landscape-cultural-archaeological heritage of the Municipality of Mazagão – Amapá” vii) the Group of Studies in Legistics.
