While public transit has operated in Ottawa for over 150 years, OC Transpo was established in 1973. Today, OC Transpo is made up of 3,000 employees who support over 90 million customer trips per year. OC Transpo’s fleet is made up of 855 fully accessible conventional buses, 80 minibuses providing door-to-door service and Alstom’s Citadis Spirit and Coradia Lint trains. For the future, OC Transpo is focused on reducing its carbon with a goal of a 100% zero-emission bus fleet by 2036.
We continue to grow, with construction underway to further expand our light rail system, and extensions opening in the coming years that will transform our city.
