OcciCal Therapeutics est une start-up de biotechnologie basée en Occitanie, spécialisée dans le développement du premier traitement préventif contre la dysfonction diaphragmatique induite par la ventilation mécanique (VIDD), une pathologie méconnue mais d’une incidence significative. Chaque année, plus de 20 millions de patients sous assistance respiratoire sont à risque de développer cette dysfonction, qui altère gravement le pronostic vital et fonctionnel à long terme.
Notre programme de recherche repose sur les découvertes réalisées par le laboratoire PhyMedExp (INSERM-CNRS) et l’IBMM (CNRS), en collaboration avec l’Université de Montpellier et le CHU de Montpellier. Ce projet de R&D explore les mécanismes moléculaires et cellulaires sous-jacents à la VIDD, avec pour objectif de développer une approche thérapeutique innovante fondée sur l’utilisation d’oxylipines. Ces travaux visent à améliorer la gestion clinique des patients ventilés et à réduire la morbidité associée à la ventilation mécanique prolongée.

OcciCal Therapeutics is a biotechnology start-up based in Occitanie, specializing in the development of the first preventive treatment for ventilator-induced diaphragm dysfunction (VIDD), a little-known condition with a significant incidence. Each year, more than 20 million patients on respiratory support are at risk of developing this dysfunction, which severely impacts both long-term survival and functional prognosis.
Our research program is built on discoveries made by the PhyMedExp laboratory (INSERM-CNRS) and IBMM (CNRS), in collaboration with the University of Montpellier and Montpellier University Hospital. This R&D project investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying VIDD, aiming to develop an innovative therapeutic approach based on the use of oxylipins. The goal is to improve the clinical management of ventilated patients and reduce the morbidity associated with prolonged mechanical ventilation.
