About us
ODWaCE is a local not-for-profit, non-religious, and nongovernmental organization (NGO) that evolved from a
government-sponsored committee on traditional practices
in 1987.
In a bid to comply with the requirements of the government,
the organization has changed its name three times since
its establishment, including “National Committee on
Traditional Practices of Ethiopia” (1987-2007), “Ye Ethiopia
Goji Limadawi Dirgitoch Aswogaj Mahiber” (2008-2012), and
now ODWaCE.
Over the past three decades, ODWaCE has implemented
projects on women, children and adolescents, in partnership
with governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Areas of its expertise include harmful traditional practices,
sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence,
girls’ education, livelihoods, child labor, household poverty,
social integration, and human rights.
