OG2 Story 5 years ago, I set out to use my experience over the past 25years in the lighting industry to design and manufacture a competent solar powered streetlight that could be used in the UK all year round. The hurdles came from three sources, the ability to capture enough energy, to store that energy, and above all to make it work all year round. It didn’t seem unreasonable at the time to also design a product that aesthetically speaking I would be happy to have outside my home. So, after some interesting attempts using off the shelf components, from different manufacturers, it became clear that to get the maximum potential from each element of the electrical design, fine tuning was required, and that off the shelf systems did not allow that. The control system we designed and tested over the past two years now forms the basis for all our solar streetlights and is unique in the industry in that it incorporates all the input, output and feedback parameters that are needed in a solar streetlight incorporated in one very efficient unit.
