Bringing the idea of ‘Energising Future Engineers’, Society of Petroleum Engineering UTM Student Chapter introducing the Oil and Gas Festival 2018 (OGFest’18) held in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor.
The idea of OGFest has already started back in 2011 when SPE-UTM introduced Oil and Gas Technology Expo and Conference (OGTEC) 2011 took place. With the same idea, Oil and Gas Symposium (IOGS) 2012 and Oil and Gas Festival (OGFest) 2013 commenced as the continuum for OGTEC. The IOGS was then recommenced on 2014 while for OGFest was on 2015. However for 2016, SPE-UTM SC has not organised any conference as planning for SPE Student Chapter Malaysia Oil and Gas Conference 2017 (SMOGC’17) has already started earlier as it was the first collaboration for three SPE Student Chapters which include SPE Universiti Teknologi Malaysia SC, SPE Heriot Watt University Malaysia, and SPE Universiti Malaya SC.
SMOGC’17 is the first collaboration of its kind which involves 3 SPE Student Chapters and few professional organisations; Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), Malaysia Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC), Society of Petroleum Engineers Kuala Lumpur Section (SPE KL) and UTM International. It has received more than 200 participants for the events and more than 60 professionals attending. With the leverage of professionals and students, students surely got more exposure on the industry conditions and situations. As a continuum for the series of events from 2011, the idea of OGFest’18 rises and will be executed successfully.
