Oil was a multi-platform story studio that created drama and interactive entertainment based on its own IP for broadcasters, branded content for advertisers, and commercial projects with forward thinking partners. Oil used digital production techniques to create low-cost, high-value properties, and created compelling worlds that rewarded, entertained and monetised massive audiences in a market where traditionally-served audiences were shrinking every day. Oil used the familiar touch points of the target audience – everyday media (internet, mobile, SMS and email) as well as live events – to tell the story to the right people in the right place at the right time. Oil’s interactive productions turned passive viewers into active participants, and fractured the narrative across the diverse range of media they encountered every day, creating a deeply immersive and ultimately more rewarding entertainment experience. Projects included interactive online adventure, Keeping Keeley, for Lynx, which was the BIMA winner 2010 for best online content and Routes, a groundbreaking multi-platform, 2-screen project for Channel 4 and sponsored by the Wellcome Trust, The project was awarded the 2010 ‘Interactive Prix Jeunesse International’ award, the ‘Best Content Partnership’ award at the Broadcast Digital Awards, 2010 IVCA Gold Web 2.0 Award and IVCA Grand Prix winner and was BAFTA nominated for a Children's TV Award and the 2010 Media Guardian Innovations Award.
