Cem Zeytin was established in Ankara in 1930 by the grandfather of Mr. Cem Okullu and Mr. Cengiz Okullu. At the beginning the company was operating in the food wholesale business, then has started growing by trading table olives and olive oil. Okullu Gıda Limited, now Okullu Gıda A.Ş., was established officially in 1994 in Edremit District of Balikesir with 8,000m2 closed production area on a total area of 30,000m2. Now, the total area reached to 53,000m2 with a 18,000m2 closed production area. Okullu Gıda with the main brand Cem Zeytin, is the privately held, leading table olive company in Turkey. Okullu Gıda’s activity in table olives is from the field until the table. Considering the capacity of olive storage, processing and packaging, Cem Zeytin is amongst the biggest players in the market. Okullu Gıda is not only present in olive sector but also in different fields. The company has shares in Tukas Food Industry that is acquired by Cem Okullu and Cengiz Okullu in October 2014. Okullu Gıda A.Ş. has other shares in different companies in different sectors at the Stock Exchange as well as construction business in Edremit Region.
