ONLINE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

OLUMS™ is a proudly South African, B-BBEE Level-1 contributor specialist software development company. The systems were purpose built by an academic with over 38 years of experience in the tertiary sector. Our software has been developed over the last decade in response to the identified needs in the tertiary education arena. Our flagship platform is the Work Integrated Learning Module, the software responds to the international problems experienced in the placement and tracking of learners through the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) modalities of their studies. The system is a response to the identified needs and requirements as identified by Universities South Africa (USAF) that can be individually structured per qualifications pedagogy, e.g. work based learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning, Work-directed theoretical learning, simulation, clinical trials, etc. Coupled to the platforms is the OLUMS™ Placement Portal, that actively links Universities, Learners and Employers. Employers can actively advertise WIL opportunities and be linked via a filtering protocol to match learners to available opportunities, based on different position requirements, e.g. Location. The secondary platform that was developed is the OLUMS™ SETA Grant Management Portal. This was developed in response to the South African Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETA) Management landscape. Where the reporting and administrative burden placed on the SETAs for the disbursement and monitoring of grants and subsequent impact study research to government is not currently being met very efficiently. Issues such as learner double dipping into multiple SETA grants, learners not being tracked through their learnerships through to successful obtainment of their certification are actively addressed via the online platform.
