Thessaloniki Olympic Museum, the first of its kind in Greece, was founded in 2001 and stands as a landmark Institution in the global narrative of Olympic history, showcasing Greece’s pivotal role in the revival of the modern Olympic Games. As a founding member of the Olympic Museums Network and an official member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the International Sports Heritage Association (ISHA) and the Museum Association (2024), the Olympic Museum actively promotes the values of Olympism—a life philosophy that encourages excellence, respect and the pursuit of a better society. Home to a rich collection of over 10,000 historical artifacts, the Olympic Museum features rare items dating as far back as 1896. Among them are personal memorabilia from renowned Greek athletes, Olympians and Paralympians, offering visitors a unique insight into the nation's athletic legacy. Beyond its curatorial role, the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum functions as a vibrant cultural hub. In collaboration with national and international organizations, it operates across three core pillars: Culture, Education & Sports.
