About Oman Studies Centre
The Oman Studies Centre was founded in 1975 as a documentation centre on Oman and the Arabian Gulf. It is a non-governmental, non-profit institution comprising an international network of experts as well as library and documentation ressources held in Germany. Its aim is to promote, coordinate, document and support research on Oman in all fields. This includes Oman's history, geography, culture, economy, arts, law, language, natural history and even marginal topics such as philately and numismatics. For historical and cultural aspects, the Centre's geographical scope also extends to areas formerly under Omani rule or influence such as ports of the Gulf, the Makran coast, Zanzibar and the East African coast as well as the Western Indian Ocean.
