Omukwano & Co. is a social enterprise which was co-founded by Leila Fraser and Joshua Opolot, Executive Director of Youth Sport Uganda in 2018. With the mission to empower women and girls in Uganda, Omukwano & Co. is disrupting the e-commerce industry. The vision is a global brand that is made by and fully benefits women in Uganda so they can become leaders of change in their communities. Omukwano & Co. is trailblazing a hybrid model that operates a social business within a charitable framework. This innovative model allows Omukwano & Co. to reinvest profits back into social programmes at Youth Sport Uganda, such as workshops for women's health, reproductive and sexual health rights, and HIV/AIDS; as well as, training women with no vocational background in sewing, beading, and crafting. This 100% impact model supports Ugandan women and girls to earn a liveable wage through Omukwano & Co.
