Registered charity onboard:earth was founded by the festival community in 2015, then called ecolibrium, as an event industry response to the COP21 climate change talks in Paris, and research showing that travel typically causes around 80% of a greenfield festival's carbon emissions.
To date, onboard:earth has supported a community of over 160 festivals, events - and their audiences - suppliers, artists and music companies to take action to reduce the impacts of travel. They have raised over £659,000 in donations for environmental project partners, planting over 65,800 trees, protecting over 21,700 acres of threatened rainforest and investing in 14 community-scale renewable energy projects.
