One by One trains volunteers to serve as mentors to pregnant and new moms. Each mentor and mom talk weekly and meet monthly throughout the mom's pregnancy and her child's early years. Mentors provide friendship and support, baby growth and development information, activities to support baby's growth, parenting and life skills strategies, and connections to additional community resources moms may need. Mentors also share the love and hope found in Jesus.
Based in Memphis, Tennessee, One by One provides in-person mentoring in Memphis/West Tennessee; North Mississippi; San Antonio and Dallas, TX; and West Kansas. We provide virtual mentoring to moms anywhere in the U.S.; we are currently serving 21 states. We provide mentoring in English and Spanish.
We provide free training and all the materials a mentor needs to serve a new mom, including lesson plans for each monthly meeting. We also provide each mom activity cards suggesting various activities she can do with her child each month to support her child's language, thinking, emotional, social, and motor skill development. We also provide moms a keepsake binder to record her thoughts, her baby's milestones, and pictures.
