One Sea

One Sea has successfully supported the implementation of autonomous ships technology since 2016. It is a good example of a unique industry-led collaborative effort across competitors that delivers added value and tangible results. The objective of One Sea is to enable the transition from traditional technologies and operations to more automated and optimized solutions in maritime transport. This is done by aligning and harmonizing the regulations and standards to deliver a safe, environmentally efficient, and commercially viable autonomous logistics system. The association promotes the implementation of new technologies in maritime transport and aims to foster societal acceptance and confidence in such technologies. One Sea facilitates internal discussions with its members to form common views on various regulatory-related topics. The association then communicates these industry insights and upholds active dialogue with external stakeholders to support the development of the legislative environment. One Sea has gained a position as an established and trusted actor capable of providing broad and up-to-date insight of future technologies and systems. One Sea engages in discussions with public and private stakeholders. It provides advice and support for the member states for their negotiations at IMO. The association has also established direct connections and open dialogue with, for example, the EU Commission and European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).
