About OneAfricanChild Foundation for Creative Learning
OneAfrianChild Foundation was established in November 20, 2013 as a nongovernmental organisation with the motive of supporting disadvantaged community children with leadership skills and resources necessary for them to become proactive agents of change in their local communities. By focusing on Global Citizenship and Peace building Education (GCED), the organisation serves to transfer skills in ethical leadership, creativity and innovation to learners, creating free spaces for self-expression, imagination and implementation to lessons learnt to address local issues. The organisation is 100% youth-led, working with young leaders from the community to empower the community through humanitarian efforts. The name itself was borne out of the idea that we as Africans can create positive change by taking responsibility for One African Child at a time. MISSION To create a society that fosters creativity, education and innovation among young Africans. VISION • Young Africans will contribute proactively towards community development and education • Local communities will be strengthened and possess local identities • A new kind of education that is participatory and linked to the global community through Global Citizenship Education. • Children will become active participants in communal development • To be an organization that fosters communities of people impacting their generation. OBJECTIVES • Preparing learners to address challenges and seize opportunities of the 21st century through Global Citizenship Education (GCED). • Introducing holistic approaches to enhance experimental and long-life learning. • Creating platforms for young people to apply their creative and innovative ideas in analysing local issues and developing possible solutions to address them. • Providing substantial learning materials and support as tools for empowerment. • Encouraging young people to be responsible citizens through volunteering and other civic engagements.
